2014 Postseason Top 100 Prospects

Now that you’ve had a chance to review our 2014 Postseason Organization Rankings, we reveal the Top 100 Prospects that drove those rankings. While fantasy projections are one of the driving forces behind our rankings, they’re not the only criteria considered – players that project as elite defensive contributors at premium positions are considered as important as offense-first players. In this new era where power has disappeared and pitching again dominates the sport, Gold Glove caliber defenders become that much more important because DRS (Defensive Runs Saved) is arguably as important a statistic as a player’s propensity for creating runs. I dare say that if you poll all the GMs in the game today the majority would be more than happy to have Jason Heyward and Alex Gordon flanking a solid CF, Andrelton Simmons and Brandon Phillips turning double plays, and Yadier Molina managing their pitching staff whether any of them hit or not. They’ll find a way to generate offense elsewhere – they always have.
